The Project

Zeinab was such a pleasure to work with. She has such a great, upbeat personality. She knew that she needed help and a lot of it. I sat down and had a chat with her about her book. The concept of it being part memoir, part poetry book intrigued me. I hadn’t had a lot of poetry book experience and let her know that, but after discussing my past experience with designs and book design, she felt confident that I could do it.

I slowly worked through her manuscript, making sure to be careful of where poems were and centering them in the page to make them stand out from the non-poetry work. The ebook was a bit trickier because centering it in the way I had it in the print version would prove to be trickier. In the end, I decided on making it left-aligned but with a slight indent to differentiate it from the non-poetry text.
